Planned Parenthood of Indiana announced Wednesday another extension of services to Medicaid patients through June 15. The fourth extension since a bill defunding abortion providers was passed by the state legislature.
Planned Parenthood of Indiana CEO Betty Cockrum says more than 1,000 donors from 46 states and several countries have now contributed more than $100,000.
“This is just a temporary fix,” Cockrum said. “There’s a sustaining effort that takes place, I have no reason to believe that these hundreds of people from across the country will continue to give their dollars to this organization.”
Though there’s been discussion of Planned Parenthood of Indiana eliminating abortion in order to restore its funding, Cockrum says that’s not an option at this time. A court challenge to the state law will be heard June 6.
