Indiana Representative Matt Pierce says a high-speed train system might be the answer to Indiana’s transportation problems.
He says a joint hearing between the House Transportation and Environmental Affairs committees helped representatives understand more possibilities for rapid transit in Indiana. Pierce says Indiana is part of the Midwest High Speed Rail Compact, a transit system that could reduce the need for new highways.
Pierce says building a mass-transit system in Indiana would cost $1 billion, less than half of the cost of the proposed Interstate 69 extension from Indianapolis to Evansville.
