Governor Pence has signed the law expanding Indiana‘s private-school voucher program. The law increases the maximum amount of a voucher, and guarantees eligibility to siblings of voucher students or to students who would otherwise have to attend a school rated as failing by the state.
Public school groups fought the expansion, charging the program is already siphoning money from their budgets.
Pence told dozens of parents and students at Calvary Christian School in Indianapolis the program will strengthen all schools, public and private.
He says parents deserve the right to choose the best educational option for their children, especially if the alternative is to be trapped in a school that doesn‘t meet their needs.
