While many businesses have been forced to close the past two days because of the snow storm that swept through the state, a ski resort in southern Indiana is welcoming the snow.
Paoli Peaks sales and marketing director David Kastan says the area received about five inches of new snow Wednesday.
“Road conditions are pretty good. INDOT crews got out and did a good job yesterday of salting and treating the roads, so we got pretty lucky with this one,” he says.
Kastan says he is expecting a busy weekend. He says because there was hardly any snow last year, many people did not get a chance to make it to the slopes.
“There’s really no comparison from last year. Last year was such an odd-ball fluke of a winter. Last year we never even really had a winter,” he says. “I think yesterday’s snow totals beat the snowfall for the entire year last year, so it’s definitely a good start to the season.”
He says he hopes and expects more people will be able to make it out this year, making it a good year for business. Paoli Peaks opened Dec. 23.
