Outcome The Same In City Council Recount

The recount again yielded more votes for Wisler than Kinzie, although the initial count recorded seven more votes than were actually cast.

The hand count yielded 444 votes for Brad Wisler, and 440 for Jillian Kinzie, shaving off a few votes of Wisler’s already slim margin from the earlier tally. Recount commission member Dan Combs says an opti-scan voting machine somehow recorded seven more votes than were actually cast in the Bloomington 22nd precinct, thus throwing off the totals.

Kinzie says she’s pleased with the results even though her bid for council has proven unsuccessful, and says she accepts the hand-counted results as valid. She also says she is happy with the campaign she ran and is appreciative of her supporters. Brad Wisler will retain the city council seat he has held since last year when he was elected by party caucus following councilman Jason Banach’s resignation.
