Occupy Bloomington Eviction Notice Extended To Friday

City officials said they have extended the deadline for Occupy protestors to vacate the park to Friday at noon.

Bloomington Parks and Recreation Director Mick Renneisen says the city has extended its deadline for Occupy protestors to leave People’s Park, where they have been protesting for nearly three months. Those still in the park now have until noon Friday to take down their tents and remove their belongings.

The announcement came Thursday after most, but not all tents were removed from the park. The city of Bloomington had originally told the demonstrators they had to vacate the area by noon Thursday.

Protestors argued that the notice, which was given less than 24 hours before enforcement, did not give them enough time to plan. Most occupiers indicated they would leave the park peacefully but also said they did not know where they would go after leaving the park.
