Timothy Morrison is the new Acting U.S. Attorney for Southern Indiana as of Monday. The Bloomington resident has served as second-in-command for the district that encompasses the southern 60 of Indiana’s 92 counties.
Susan Brooks, who has led the office for the past six years, is leaving her position to join Ivy Tech as General Counsel and Vice-President for Workforce Development. Morrison says his appointment will last a minimum of 210 days, but it will likely be two more years before the U.S. Senate confirms a presidentially appointed U.S. Attorney. Morrison says he will continue to operate according to the Department of Justice’s priorities and guidelines.
Morrison has acted as interim U.S. Attorney twice before, in 1993 and from 2000 to 2001. He is a 1974 graduate of Indiana University’s School of Law in Bloomington.
