The Victory statue that sits normally atop the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in downtown Indianapolis returns to Monument Circle today.

The statue came down April 22 for restoration and repair. Once downtown, the statue will be placed on the ground at the base of the monument on the northwest quadrant of the Circle. Although it will be contained within the steel cage that will be used to lift it back on top of the monument, the public is still invited to get a rare up-close view.

The statue will remain on the ground throughout the holiday weekend. Crews will lift Victory back up to her permanent residence on top of the monument at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
