All incumbents on the school board who plan to run again have filed for reelection.

Wednesday marks the first day for candidates to file for the Monroe County school board election. Four school board seats are up for reelection.

Board members up for reelection include Sue Wanzer (2nd district) and Lois Sabo-Skelton (6th district), Vice President of the Board Keith Klein (5th district), and President Jim Muehling (4th district). Their terms end on December 31 of this year.

Muehling has decided not to run for reelection. He recommends the next President should guide every decision by asking, “what is in the best interest of our kids?”

All three incumbents have filed. Monroe County resident David Sabbagh has also filed for District 4. The filing deadline is August 24 at noon.

Monroe County Election Supervisor Ruth Hickman says any interested candidate must obtain ten valid signatures and return the petition to the county voter registration office in Bloomington.
