The Monroe County Library Board on Wednesday announced that county librarian Cindy Gray is stepping down. Board chair Stephen Moberly made the announcement following a discussion of the library’s budget priorities for the coming year.
Moberly said the board’s attorneys are working with Gray’s representatives to come to terms on a severance package. Although no member of the board commented on the resignation, they approved a motion to allow Moberly to approve the severance agreement. Gray had come under fire recently for deteriorating relations with the staff, and concerns over reductions in some staff benefits. Gray came to the Monroe County facility in late 2004 from a library in Greenville, Texas.
