Monroe County Family Planning Clinic Opens At New Location

Monroe County’s Futures Family Planning Clinic aims to provide more privacy to patients.

Monroe County’s Futures Family Planning Clinic has begun seeing patients at its new clinic. Previously located on Walnut Street, a new location at the corner of 7th and College Avenue opened Tuesday.

The facility provides reproductive healthcare and education services. Monroe County Health Department Administrator Penny Caudill says the facility is different than Planned Parenthood, located less than a half-mile down the road, because it is funded with federal grants known as Title X.

“One of the requirements for Title X funding is a sliding scale,” she says. “So anyone can come to our clinic, but their fees are based on their income.”

The new location will provide the same services in a new environment that Caudill says will create more privacy for the patients.

Well, now that all the folks that would not respect the clients privacy have been told where to go to hassle the clients, the privacy angle is pretty much shot.
