Renovations being made to the Monroe County Courthouse are behind schedule but under budget.
The Monroe County Courthouse is receiving major renovations that were originally set to be completed the end of July, but will now likely be finished in September.
Site Manager, Bill Ledlow says the project is a few months behind because of some unforeseen complications.
“There were so many things that needed to be changes made during the project,” he says. “We found things that we didn’t know was going to be an issue that had to be changed, modified and repaired. The ADA restroom that added almost 6-10 weeks.”
Monroe County Commissioner Mark Stoops says even though the time frame is delayed, the $4 million project is $50,000 under budget.
“[It is] about $3 million for the structural repairs. We also had roughly $1 million or mechanical while all of the pipes and mechanical were pulled out,” he says. “We also replaced our boiler, which was originally put in in 1965. Now we have automatic controls and we have far more efficient heating in the courthouse.”
