The Monroe County Health Department is taking a new look at the bedbug situation affecting residents. Department Administrator Penny Caudill says the new surveys available on the county’s website will help her office gauge the scope of the pests in Monroe County.
“We’ve revamped the surveys a bit, and re-launched them, and we hope people will continue to input any information if they have issues or experiences with bedbugs.”
The last survey was completed in January. Caudill says the potential to bring bed bugs into a home is especially high this time of the year.
“One thing right now that’s important is students moving out and discarding furniture, then people picking that up.”
Caudill says if a home does have an infestation, professional extermination is the only effective method to remove the pests. A link to the surveys can be found here.
