Governor-elect Mike Pence will be sworn in Monday as Indiana’s 50th Governor.
Pence is not expected to lay out a full agenda until his State of the State address a week after he is sworn in, but legislators are already working to align their agenda with the governor’s.
Pence’s slogan for months has focused on job creation as his primary priority, and he is expected to stick with it as he takes office. Pence says he wants to keep the momentum of the last eight years by accurately balancing the state’s budget, funding state priorities, and maintaining the state’s reserves that give Indiana a strong balance sheet.
But Pence also says he wants to seize the moment of having the state’s largest surplus in history to promote policies that will encourage more investment by Indiana businesses in ways that will create jobs.
Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice, Brent Dickson will administer the oath to Pence shortly before noon.
