The Mega Millions lottery jackpot has reached a record $640 million.
Sales of Mega Millions lottery tickets skyrocketed this week, creating the biggest jackpot ever available in North America. Mega Millions tickets cost $1 a-piece and are sold in 46 states.
There has been a steady stream of customers at the Sunoco on Bloomington’s South Side, one of nearly 4,000 retailers in Indiana.
Bloomington resident Clyde Patterson said that he bought 10 tickets yesterday and came back for more today.
“My daughter, she talked me into it,” he says. “She said ‘Dad why don’t you buy some of those Mega Millions tickets?’”
The Mega Millions drawing takes place at 11 o’clock tonight.
