Rep. Sue Errington is one of a growing number of legislators in support of legalizing medical cannabis use.

Activists gathered at the Indiana Statehouse Thursday for a town hall event calling for laws allowing the use of medical marijuana. Indiana is one of eight states with no legal access to medical cannabis products.

One of the growing number of legislators in support of these efforts is Rep. Sue Errington (D-Muncie), who spoke at the event.

“Right now people look at these other states, and they think, those people are getting relief. Why can’t I? Or my child?” she says.

Legislators in both the House and Senate are considering bills that allow for the use of cannabidiol in certain medical situations.

But Republican Governor Eric Holcomb said during a gubernatorial debate last year he’s not interested in tackling the issue, even if the discussion focuses solely on medical treatment.
