After 3.5 years of service at the Monroe County Community School Corporation, the district’s Director of Elementary Education, Cameron Rains is moving on.
MCCSC Elementary Education Director Cameron Rains will leave his Bloomington position for a job as Curriculum and Instruction Specialist at Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation in Johnson County. Rains says there have been some challenges during his tenure at MCCSC, including budget cuts, and meeting new state guidelines.
“There was a lot of changes at the state level in expectations and the way schools were held accountable,” Rains says. “In the way schools were evaluated so staying ahead of those things is always and still remains a challenge for school districts everywhere,” he adds.
MCCSC Board President Jim Muehling says under Rains the district’s failure rate has decreased and the corporation has instituted a literacy remediation program.
“He’s done some great things in terms of energizing the in school support program for literacy that’s the big charge that he has taken hold of and moved forward with,” Muehling says.
Superintendent Judy DeMuth with spearhead the search for Rains’ replacement. Muehling adds it’s likely the new person will be in place for next fall.
