Martinsville Requests Personal Visit From Daniels About I-69

City officials request to speak with governor about highway plans.

City leaders in Martinsville have requested a personal visit from Governor Mitch Daniels regarding the state’s plan to build I-69 through their community.

City Councilman David Barger says he proposed the idea of inviting Daniels to visit Martinsville. Barger says the corridor will adversely affect emergency management, and create a delay in response time.

Barger says city officials will look into federal alternatives if directly speaking with the governor doesn’t work out.
