Man Who Sold Gun That Killed Terre Haute Officer Sentenced

A total of seven people connected to the 2011 murder of a Terre Haute police officer have been indicted.

Officer Brent Long was killed in July of 2011 while trying to serve a warrant.

The sentencing of defendants connected to the 2011 killing of Terre Haute Police officer Brent Long continued Wednesday.

Scott Griffy, 42, of Terre Haute has been sentenced to 57 months in the federal bureau of prisons, the maximum allowable sentence. Prosecutors say he sold the gun Shaun Seely to kill Officer Long as Long attempted to serve a warrant in July of last year.

Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse says the case brings some peace to the community Griffy is now a six-time convicted felon. He also faces state charges for methamphetamine production and possession.

In total, seven Terre Haute residents have been indicted in connection with the case.
