McCormick Creek State Park is located in Owen County near Spencer, Indiana.
Indiana Conservation Officers believe a man who claimed he was shot in McCormick‘s Creek State Park actually shot himself.
Peter Raventos, 43, of Bloomington claimed he was shot in the park on June 25, but investigators say he shot himself in a staged incident designed to make him appear to be a victim of a random shooting.
Conservation Officers found evidence that he that he set up a shotgun so he could shoot himself from a distance. He has been charged with obstruction of justice and false informing. His bond has been set at $5,000.
Raventos was treated at Indiana University Health Methodist Hosptial and released shortly after the shooting.
