A 24-year-old man was arrested on charges of criminal recklessness with a firearm after two Indiana University custodians reporting hearing shots fired on the Bloomington campus Thursday morning. David Sparks and Karen Kurdzoilek reported hearing gunfire in Woodlawn Field by the northwest side of the HPER building around 4 a.m. Thursday. The custodians reported seeing a white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a white ball cap in the area, whom they followed to the gazebo at 10th Street and Fee Lane. At that point, IUPD Sargent Craig Munroe says officers caught up with the suspect and identified him as Christopher Conley.
While questioning Conley, Munroe says officers discovered a loaded semi-automatic .380 handgun approximately 60 feet south of where Conley was standing. Munroe says officers determined Conley was drunk, and also charged him with public intoxication.
