Senator Richard Lugar and State Treasurer Richard Mourdock will face off for a debate hosted by WFYI.
Early returns show incumbent Senator Richard Lugar is trailing State Treasurer Richard Mourdock. With about 11 percent of the precincts reporting, Lugar the third longest serving U.S. Senator, was trailing 38 percent to Mourdock’s 61 percent.
Lugar has been coined an “Indiana institution” in the national media. Prior to this election, Lugar had not had a primary challenger since he was first elected in 1976.
