Former Indiana Senator Richard Lugar Thursday will announce another partnership with an Indiana college. Lugar will work with Indiana University’s Center on Congress, alongside that organization’s leader, former Indiana congressman Lee Hamilton.
Indiana University spokesman Mark Land says a Thursday press conference will introduce Lugar’s role formally and offer details of an expansion of the Center on Congress.
Shortly before his term in the U.S. Senate ended, Lugar announced he would help found the Richard Lugar Academy at the University of Indianapolis, a public policy-based school on the urban campus. He will also help coordinate U-Indy’s Washington internship and study program, which teaches students about national and international political issues.
Lugar has maintained a longtime connection with U-Indy’s Washington internship program.
