Lt. Governor Becky Skillman is considering a run for Indiana governor. This news comes after Senator Evan Bayh announced he would not run for the seat.
Outgoing Democratic Indiana Senator Evan Bayh says he will not seek a return trip to the governor’s office in 2012. The former governor says it was –quote- a very hard decision, but says he did not want to disrupt his twin sons’ lives now that they are freshmen in high school. Bayh served as governor from 1990-1997. The democrat did not seek re-election to the Senate this year. Republican Dan Coats won his seat. Lieutenant Governor Republican Becky Skillman says has been examining her options – particularly in the last couple of weeks – in regards to a gubernatorial run.
“November and December have been a time to hold a couple fundraisers, build up a little cushion…put some foundational activities in place, ” said Skillman.
This comes as speculation continues about Governor Mitch Daniels making a run for the White House in 2012.
