House Speaker Brian Bosma says with only a couple days left of session, the legislature has a framework in place for the budget.
He says while details are still being worked out, everyone agrees on the goals they’re working towards.
“Impacting public education funding in a very positive way, it’s getting Hoosier roads to meet our self-declared goal of being the crossroads of America,” he says. “It’s putting money back into the taxpayers pocket in a very substantive way.”
Bosma says they are zeroing in on what that tax cut will entail.
“Our goal is to have the largest single tax cut in state history with over a billion dollar in tax cuts that will touch every Hoosier – every Hoosier family, every Hoosier business, every Hoosier taxpayer,” he says. “And I think we’re going to get there.”
Bosma says that will include elimination of the inheritance tax, continuing a reduction in the corporate tax rate and part of the governor’s proposed income tax cut. The Speaker says he’s anticipating the details will be released publicly Thursday.
