The smoking ban goes into effect Monday, October 1st.

An extended smoking ban is now in effect in Lawrence, an “excluded city” just outside of Indianapolis. The smoking ban, which went into effect Monday, mirrors Indianapolis‘ ban with the inclusion of hotels and bars and the exclusion of private clubs.

Mayor Dean Jessup says their ordinance wanted to match Indianapolis‘ for a simple connection policy, so people will not be confused. The Lawrence Common Council voted 5-3 in favor of the extended ban earlier this year.
