Lauren Robel has been serving as the interim provost for IU Bloomington.

Lauren Robel is the new executive vice president and provost of the Indiana University Bloomington campus effective July 1. IU President Michael McRobvie made the announcement at the IU trustees meeting Friday.

“Lauren was the enthusiastic and unanimous choice of the search committee, which was impressed with her vision, impeccable academic credentials, passion for students and her collaborative working style,” McRobbie said.

Robel has served as interim provost since December 2011. Prior to that position, she was dean of the IU Maurer School of Law.

In a statement, Robel said she was honored to have the opportunity to serve the Bloomington Campus.

“I look forward to working closely with all the members of our community to advance Indiana University’s profoundly important academic mission with a shared sense of integrity and purpose,” Robel said.

Robel has been a faculty member at IU since 1985.
