International students going to Kokomo High School will soon have dorms available to them.
By the start of school this fall, Kokomo-Center Schools will have a dormitory to provide housing for international students pursuing a high school diploma at Kokomo High School.
Kokomo-Center Schools Superintendent Jeff Hauswald says the school district is working to increase its international footprint.
“We have been expanding international education in Kokomo,” he says. “We are working through the International Baccalaureate organization and we are working to develop relationships with sister schools in sister cities.”
The dorm will provide fee-based room and board for 16 students of the same gender in downtown Kokomo. The international high school dormitory is believed to be the first of its kind for a public school in Indiana.
