Goodnight says the past four years have seen great improvement in Kokomo, but more work is needed to continue the positive trends.
Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight says ensuring continued economic growth will be paramount to his next term in office. Goodnight, who gave his fifth State of the City Address Monday night, worries the success Kokomo has had in the past few years could slow if he and other city officials do not actively promote economic vitality.
Kokomo still has a higher than average unemployment rate, but Goodnight says that number is on the decline, and will continue to shrink as more jobs come into the city.
Goodnight says the new US-31 bypass will be completed by the end of next year, and he wants to make sure that new development along the corridor does not take away from current businesses in the downtown district.
