The two cities hope to bring new investments to central Indiana.

Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight and Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold announced the creation of a formal regional partnership called the Midwest Automotive Loop today. The cities of Kokomo and Marion are now working together to promote their strengths in the automotive field.

Mayor Goodnight says the two cities are trying to showcase that their close proximity is not much different than any other major metropolitan area.

“When they count their assets, they talk about everything in their region, which is usually multi-county,” said Goodnight. “What we are trying to do is a similar type of concept for this part of the state. Instead of working individually, we would be working collectively.”

The Automotive Loop’s main goal is to attract additional investment in the automotive industry, supply chain, manufacturers, service providers, and product development.

They are also trying to gain support for the educational facilities in the area. These facilities train students for the future growth of the automotive companies.
