Kokomo police are investigating a robbery and assault that occurred early Sunday morning. According to a police report, 42-year-old Walter Cooper and a female passenger were driving in the area of Purdum and Mulberry Streets when they were flagged down by three men in a cream-colored older Cadillac. Police say the men attacked the couple when they left their vehicle.
The female was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash before she and Cooper fled. Police didn’t learn of the assault until an ambulance was dispatched to Cooper’s home nearly twelve hours later. Witnesses said he was unconscious and unresponsive. Cooper was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and underwent surgery. According to police, his condition was not known.
