A 12-person jury has found James Finney guilty of murdering Adam Sarnecki, who was killed in a Bloomington Pizza X parking lot nearly two years ago.
The jury unanimously found Finney guilty on three counts, including one count of murder and two counts of possessing a handgun without a license.
After announcing the verdict, the jury was told Finney was previously convicted of intimidation, which raises one of the handgun charges to the next level. The defense conceded to that change.
The sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 6.
A jury is deliberating in the trial of a man who allegedly killed a Pizza X diver in Bloomington nearly two years ago.
Attorneys on the case completed closing arguments this morning.
Prosecuting attorneys argue James Finney shot Adam Sarnecki in the parking lot of the pizza store. They say Sarnecki was unarmed and the act was unprovoked.
But defense attorneys say Sarnecki chased Finney after he found Finney breaking into a car. They say that indicates Finney was acting out in self-defense.
Neither the attorneys nor the judge indicated how long they expected the jury to come to a verdict.
