Ivy Tech consolidated its campuses from 14 to 11 this year in response to state funding cuts.

Ivy Tech Community College has selected Chris Lowery to serve as Chancellor of the college‘s combined region which includes the Columbus and Southeast regions.

Lowery most recently served as the Director of Public Policy and Engagement for Hillenbrand,
and cited his 19 years with the global industrial company as good preparation for his new role.  According to Lowery, one of his first tasks will be to identify would-be students who may not want, or need, a four-year degree, but could use additional education.

“We’ve got to do a better job of helping students who aren’t ready perhaps for a four year degree that need to be thinking about certifications and associate’s degrees and so forth,” Lowery said.

The Columbus and Southeast regions include Batesville, Lawrenceburg and Madison.
