Ivy Tech Bloomington’s Student Body Nearly Doubles This Fall

The increase in enrollment has caused facility expansions previously a few years away to be moved up considerably.

Ivy Tech Bloomington Chancellor John Whikehart says as of this week, the final enrollment tally for the fall semester is upwards of 5,100 students. That’s nearly double the student body the campus had when the new west-side facility was opened in 2002. Whikehart says plans for facility expansions that had previously been a few years away have been moved up considerably.

Whikehart says he sees the ballooning enrollment figures as an indication that the campus is fulfilling its mission. He says Bloomington-area residents shouldn’t expect to see any draw-down in the campus’s marketing efforts anytime soon.

Statewide, the Ivy Tech system has a total of 106,000 students enrolled in its programs this year.
