IU Women’s Basketball Tied for 1st in Big Ten

Night in and night out, the IU women's basketball team is proving its legitimacy as one of the top teams in the conference.

Night in and night out, the IU women’s basketball team is proving its legitimacy as one of the top teams in the conference. Last night, the Hoosiers once again showed their resiliency in the closing minutes of the game. WTIU’s Dave Leno has more on the Hoosiers victory over Wisconsin.

It was a cat and mouse type atmosphere at Assembly Hall. Just when the Hoosiers struck. Wisconsin came right back and countered. In the waning moments, point guard Jamie Braun took over the game that culminated in a 64-61 Indiana win. Without any hesitation Braun says she wants the ball when the game is on the line.

Jamie Braun: “As a point guard and a general of this team, this is, at the ten second mark I am going after the ball because I want to take it in.”

Now Braun and her teammates will prepare for one of the biggest games this season- a match-up against Purdue.

Coach Jack: “This is what it is about about. This is why these kids decide to stay in-state so they can really play this game here.”

With the win Thursday night, the Hoosiers record climbs to 12 and 3 on the season. And you can best bet fans are going to fill the Assembly Hall seats when the Hoosiers return to Branch McCracken court on Monday night to face in-state rival Purdue.
