Colleagues are remembering the publisher of the Indiana Daily Student newspaper fondly, following his unexpected death this past weekend. Indiana University Student Media Director Dave Adams was found unresponsive in a fish pond at his residence by police Saturday evening. Officers attempted to revive him, but were unsuccessful. Ernie Pyle School of Journalism Dean Brad Hamm says Adams led the fight for press freedom for students across the nation. He says Adams will be remembered as a caring leader, a mentor, and a friend. Hamm says Adams will also be remembered for what he achieved at Ernie Pyle Hall.
Indiana Daily Student summer editor-in-chief Zachary Osterman says there was no concern too big or too small for Adams. Osterman says to Adams, students were his life. Osterman says Adams isn’t a person many will forget any time soon. Adams was 59 years old. He had worked at the IU School of Journalism since 1989. Funeral arrangements are pending.
