Five names have surfaced in the search for Indiana University Bloomington’s next provost. Law professor and search committee chair Fred Cate will not confirm the specific names, but does say the field has been narrowed to five. He says the committee has interviewed three of the candidates and will interview the remaining two before presenting their recommendations to IU President-elect Michael McRobbie. Cate says McRobbie will make the final selection out of two or three names suggested. He says while the committee has been busy with interviews, they have not yet come to conclusions about whom to recommend.
The “Herald-Times” has identified the people on the short list as School of Education Dean Gerardo Gonzalez, Hutton Honors College Dean Karen Hanson, School of Law Dean Lauren Robel, Dean of the Faculties Jeanne Sept, and former interim Dean and associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences David Zaret. The paper attributes names to “sources familiar with the internal search for a provost.” McRobbie’s goal for naming a new provost is July 2nd.
