Indiana University students graduating from the Leadership, Ethics, and Social Action program presented their finishing senior projects at Bloomington City Hall last Friday. This year’s capstone projects ranged from ideas for a general health week and an energy-saving model for light bulbs, to a school building project in Africa.
Richa Sharma, one of this year’s graduating seniors, is working with the Leadership and Renewal Outfitters, a non-profit group funded by the Lilly Endowment, to take a group of 17 fellows to help children in a village in Kenya. Sharma, who wants to go to medical school, says she’s passionate about helping the children.
Professor Marjorie Hershey, director of the LESA program, says she was impressed with this year’s student projects, and says the effects of their work extends well beyond the classroom.
