IU Health plans to lay off 900 workers.

IU Health is announcing more job cuts. In a statement released late today, IU Health announced it is cutting more than 100 additional positions.

Earlier this month, IU Health announced it would eliminate about 800 positions at six facilities across Central Indiana. That figure now tops 900 and affected workers are being notified this week.

IU Health blames the changing face of the healthcare industry for the reductions as hospitals nationwide experience fewer admissions and declining insurance reimbursements.

The announcement comes on the same day Americans are beginning to sign up for healthcare insurance exchanges.
