IU Health plans to continue accepting patients who have UnitedHealthcare insurance despite not reaching a contract agreement with the company for 2014.
The current contract expires today, but IU Health officials say they will continue negotiations in January.
In the meantime, IU Health is treating UnitedHealthcare patients as “in-network.”
“This decision is consistent with our commitment to ensuring patients have access to nationally recognized care,” Dr. John C. Kohne, IU Health chief medical officer, said in a statement. “We know patients value the relationship with their physician and health care team, and we want to help them maintain those relationships without unnecessary disruption.”
Patients must still pay for any in-network deductible and co-pay fees.
