A jury has found former IU men’s basketball star Devan Dumes not guilty of several charges.
Dumes faced attempted murder, theft, carjacking, and several gun-related charges stemming from an incident in January.
The jury found him not not guilty on three charges, and dismissed a charge of unlawful use of a handgun. Dumes was charged after being accused of carjacking Keith Jones at 39th and Graceland on January 11th.
Dumes was accused of pulling a gun and shooting Jones, who later drove himself to a hospital. He claimed self defense.
Dumes is accused of also firing shots into a home following a dispute with a relative.
He also faced charges of possessing illegal drugs and an unlicensed gun after being stopped by police on July 24th. He was out on bond at the time.
Dumes originally played basketball for Eastern Michigan University, before transferring to Vincennes University.
He later transferred to IU and played for the team in the 2008-2009 season.
