The Indiana Hoosiers will appear in the 2013 NCAA Men’s College World Series for the first time in school history.

The IU baseball team beat the Florida State Seminoles 11-6 in the Super Regional at Florida State.

“It is fitting that the baseball team’s season for the ages would coincide with the opening of our superb new facility, Bart Kaufman Field, and we are all immensely proud of the team’s accomplishments this year and the positive attention it has brought to the university,” Indiana University President Michael McRobbie said in a statement.

The Hoosiers will open the eight-team tournament against the Louisville Cardinals, who advanced after beating Vanderbilt Sunday.
