IU Baseball Hires Louisville’s Chris Lemonis As Head Coach

IU is hiring University of Louisville assistant coach Chris Lemonis to become the head baseball coach.

IU baseball is hiring Chris Lemonis as the team’s new head coach.

The team tweeted the news this afternoon.

Lemonis comes from the University of Louisville, where he served as the Cardinals’ Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for eight seasons.

Louisville reached the College World Series three times during that span, and in 2013 he was named the ABCA/Baseball America Assistant Coach of the Year.

IU baseball’s official twitter feed sent this out to welcome the Hoosiers’ new head coach.

Lemonis replaces Tracy Smith, who was the head coach for nine seasons before leaving to become the head coach at Arizona State University.

An official announcement will be made at a press conference at a later date.
