Republican Party officials say an Indiana State University lobbyist may challenge incumbent US Representative Brad Ellsworth in the 2008 election. Greg Goode is currently the executive assistant to the ISU President, handling external relations. Bill Treadway, Chair of the Vigo County Republican Party, says he has heard the rumors of Goode’s candidacy. He says Goode has done a fantastic job of rallying political support for ISU.
Treadway believes Goode’s current position and former work as an aide to US Representative Ed Pease have made him very familiar with the inner workings of government. Treadway says he doesn’t know how seriously to take the rumors of Goode’s candidacy, but believes the ISU official would have plenty of local support.
Treadway says Goode hasn’t been very involved with local politics. However, Treadway believes that’s due to the bipartisan obligations of Goode’s current post. Treadway says the Vigo County Republican Party would support Goode in a Congressional bid.
