Greenwood is set to get another interstate exit. The Indiana Department of Transportation has agreed to enter into a contract with the city and fund about half of the estimated $20 million project at Interstate 65 and Worthsville Road. Outgoing Greenwood Mayor Charles Henderson expects the project to have a positive impact on the city in two different ways.
“It‘s going to be a tremendous economic development corridor for us, and the second is just traffic relief. We have so much heavy traffic coming out of the west side of the county — white river township — that has to come either main street or greenwood road to get to 65,” says Henderson.
Construction will likely begin in 2014.
