Roads that do not have shoulders can be dangerous for Amish buggies.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is allocating $11.6 million to add buggy lanes on Cannelburg Road in Daviess County.

The road will be upgraded to include new pavement and larger shoulders so local traffic, including buggies, will be able to maneuver more easily along the busy economic corridor.

In 2012, the state awarded the project $2.5 million. The additional $11.6 million will pay for the remainder of the upgrades.
