Indiana’s Abortion Rate Decreases Fifth Year In A Row

The number of abortions in Indiana decreased 9 percent from those performed in 2012.

8,027 abortions were performed in Indiana in 2013.

The number of abortions performed in Indiana in 2013 decreased 9 percent from the previous year. This is the fifth year in a row the abortion rate decreased from the year before.

In 2013, Indiana women terminated 8,027 pregnancies compared to 8,808 in 2012.

Marion County reports the most abortions with more than 5,000, followed by  Lake County with 1,231.

Monroe County reports the third most abortions with 753 completed in 2013.

Women ages 20-29 account for more than half of the abortions in 2013.
