Indiana Senators respond to reported VA issues in their home state.

Earlier this month, American Legion National Commander Daniel Dellinger called for leadership changes at the VA after reports of manipulated wait times, delayed care, falsification of medical records and patient deaths at VA medical centers across the nation.

An American Legion task force is conducting an audit at the Roudebush Veterans Affairs Hospital in Indianapolis this week.

In a letter to Secretary Shinseki, Donnelly and Coats say the reported issues raise serious concerns about what they call a “systematic attempt” within the VA to undermine congressional oversight.

The Hoosier Senators say they want Shinseki to immediately verify whether the same problems took place in Indiana.

A top Veterans Affairs official resigned last week; Shinseki has so far resisted calls for him to step down.

I agree with both of our senators, this is a non-partisan issue. We should evaluate all of our veterans facilities immediately. It very well could be systemic and God knows, Indiana has sent more than its share of young men and women into wars both justified and not.
