Indiana has added five new license plates for the veterans of different military divisions.
Governor Mitch Daniels unveiled new Indiana license plates that salute Hoosier veterans. The governor joined officials at the Indiana War Memorial where they displayed several new plates and licenses that will be available to veterans beginning in 2012.
“Now each of our half million veterans will have the opportunity to display their pride in the particular branch where they served, but I like the fact that the rest of us several million Hoosiers will now be able to spot and identify those who have served,” Daniels said.
Each plate and license has a printed symbol that shows the holder is a veteran. Officials say there are upwards of a-half million veterans in Indiana alone. That figure does not include troops currently on active duty. The governor says the plates are a fitting tribute to those who have made sacrifices for freedom.
