Indiana Native Wins Gold At X-Games And Heads To Sochi

Indiana native Nick Goepper won the gold medal in the X games' ski slopestyle event this weekend.

Indiana native Nick Goepper won the gold medal in the X games' ski slopestyle event this weekend.

This weekend, Indiana native Nick Goepper won the gold medal in the X games’ ski slopestyle event for the second year in a row.

The 19-year-old from Lawrenceburg, Ind. took first place with a score of 95—just one point shy of the record.

Goepper is the first repeat gold medalist in the X games ski slopestyle since 2004 and he will be leaving for Sochi this week to compete in the winter Olympics.

This year is the first Olympic games to include a slopestyle competition.
